Being deprived of sleep could make you over eat almost 1,000 calories, that’s 50% EXTRA calories than a grown woman needs!
The more hours you are awake; the more time you have to eat. Late nights and early days mean that you have longer days, get hungry more as you are using the food you eat.
Sleep deprivation changes your appetite; from carb-rich food which will keep you going through the working day to fatty foods, which are calorie ridden – leaving you feeling sluggish. Your body will store this extra food as fat; affecting your health and your waistline.

3 Simple ways to get more shuteye:

  1. Set yourself a bedtime – try and go to bed at the same time everyday. Your body clock will get used to the routine helping your sleep better.
  2. Exercise – even just 30 mins a day of light exercise will help your body use up all the calories you have taken and also wear you out, decreasing your chance of tossing and turning all night.
  3. Get more natural light – daylight helps regulate your body’s melatonin, which helps with your natural sleep-wake cycle. Get some natural light daily and your body will repay you with a good night’s sleep.
